Finding a good hull down position matters, real world tactics help, and power to weight ratio feels right as you try to struggle up a hill or accelerate away from a threat. The controls are easy to master, WASD for manuevering your tank, and the mouse controls turret traverse and elevation.The game has tanks from the mid 1930 through the 1950s, you can drive tanks from the US, Germany or USSR. Light tanks, Medium and Heavies. Each country and class has a different feel. You start at Tier one and can progress through ever increasinly powerful tanks through Tier 10. Each battle earns you credits and experience. Each tank has modules(new cannon, new turret, etc) which you must unlock with experince, learn most of the modules on your tank and you can choose to spend experince learning the next tiers tank... World of Tanks (WoT) is a creative spin on the seemingly ubiquitous first person shooter (FPS) genre. As an arcade/shooter type game WoT excels in many aspects. It generally pulls from WWII era tanks, but also includes some concept designs and tanks from the 50s.Playability (out of 5) -- 4 I don't give the game 5 out of 5 because the learning curve is rather steep. Like many other FPS games, WoT has intuitive controls and is relatively easy to play. Surviving battles on the other hand requires, at the very minimum, a basic knowledge of the other tanks you will be facing and their relative strengths and weaknesses compared to your tank. This is not a run and gun game. It requires a much higher level of tactical planning than other shooters. The instructions on how to play the game are somewhat lacking as well.
